ITINERARY
TUE 3 AUG 10 Depart
from Washington DC according to flight
arrangements.
WED 4 AUG 10
Arrive Amman, Jordan
and transfer to hotel. Mass will be celebrated
before dinner and overnight.
THR 5 AUG 10
After a great
buffet breakfast, we depart
Amman and drive to
Madaba
to see the oldest
map of the mid-East which is a mosaic in the floor
of the Greek Orthodox church. Continue to
Mt. Nebo
where Father will celebrate Mass overlooking the
Promised Land. Stop at the Workshop for the
Disabled to see how they are creating wonderful
mosaics and have lunch before continuing south to
Petra.
Check into our hotel for dinner and overnight.
FRI 6 AUG 10
A day in
Petra.
Enter The Siq with expert guide, Bashar Twal and
experience the wonder of Petra as we walk thru
hidden canyon walls to the Treasury. After a full
day of exploring this Beduoin treasure, return to
the hotel to relax around the pool before dinner and
overnight,
SAT 7 AUG 10
After breakfast,
depart north, stopping for coffee along the way
before our visit to the Decapolis City of
Jerash.
Return 2500 years to this Roman/Greco town and see
what life was like. Continue north to the
King Hussein Bridge/border
crossing and enter
Israel.
Check into our hotel overlooking the Sea of
Galilee. Mass in the garden on the Mount of
Beatitudes before dinner.
SUN 8 AUG 10 After
breakfast, go down to
the Sea of Galilee
and take a boat
across to visit
Tabgha
where Our Lord fed the 5,000 men with 2
loaves and 5 fishes. Continue to
The
Primacy
where he asks Peter, "Do you love me?"
and then to Capernaum. After our tour of the
excavations of this ancient town, we can enjoy a
special “St Peter’s Fish” lunch (unless you’d like
chicken) and then drive up to
Mount Tabor,
where we'll transfer to taxis and go up to visit
Antonio Barlucci's magnificent church. Father will
celebrate Mass before we return down to our coach.
Stop by Yardenit on
the Jordan River
to renew our baptismal promises
before we return to our hotel for dinner and
overnight.
MON 9 AUG 10
After
breakfast, we pack up and head to
Cana
where we’ll renew
the wedding vows of our couples and then continue to
Nazareth
where the Word was Made Flesh! Have a
mid-East lunch before we walk from Mary’s Well thru
the market streets to Joseph’s Carpenter Shop and
the original village of Nazareth which is under the
magnificent Church of the Annunciation. Have time
for prayer in front of the Grotto where Mary
“heard the Word” before we leave Nazareth and
drive south to the
Dead Sea.
Take a break by the sea and have the
opportunity to ‘float’ in the mineral-laden
waters and rejuvenate yourself in the ‘mud’ of the
seabed. We continue into Jericho to see the Mount
of Temptations and a sycamore tree (like Zeccahus
climbed) before we check into our Intercontinental
Hotel. Dinner and overnight in
Jericho.
TUE 10
AUG 10
After breakfast, we'll drive up to
Bethlehem
and have time to
shop in one of the big Christian stores before or
after included lunch at the Franciscan Casa Nova.
After visit the oldest Christian church in the
world, built over the place where Our Lord was born.
We’ll continue to Jerusalem to the top of the
Mt of Olives and
walk down from the place of the
Ascension to the
Carmelite Convent where we remember Jesus
teaching the Our Father, and continue down to
Dominus Flevit
where He wept over the city, and down to
Gethsemane where
Father will celebrate Mass. Check into our hotel
for dinner and overnight.
WED 11 AUG 10 After breakfast, we drive around the city
walls once more to
St. Peter in Gallicantu where
our Lord was held by the high priest when he was
arrested. Have time for prayer and meditaton.
Drive up toMt Zion
to visit
Dormition Abbey
where
“Mary Slept” and
the Upper Room.
Father will celebrate Mass at the Franciscan
property of the Cenacle.
In the afternoon, walk and pray
the Via Dolorosa through the streets of
the Old City up to
Calvary and the Holy Sepulchre.
Join the Franciscan for Benediction and then have
some free time before we return to our hotel for
dinner and overnight.
THR 12 AUG 10
After breakfast, drive around the city walls to the
Dung Gate
and enter The Old City in the Jewish Quarter and
visit the Western
Wall.
Many Jewish boys will come to celebrate their
Bar Mitzvah here today and we can pray at and
leave our petitions in the Wall. After, walk up onto
the Temple
Mount
where Jesus taught and prayed; where
he was presented by his parents after birth; where
he was tempted by the Devil to throw himself down;
and, where he was angered by the money changers.
Today on this Moslem property we find the
El-Aqsa Mosque
and the
Dome of the Rock.
We pass the closed
Golden Gate as we leave and enter the
Crusader church of St.
Ann’s
and the Pools of
Bethesda.
Leave the city by St. Stephen’s Gate.
Stop at
Yad Vashem to
visit the Children's Holocaust Memorial and Garden
of the Righteous and eat in their Kosher Cafeteria.
Continue to the
Israeli Museum
and see The 1/50th scale model of the city at
the time of Christ. It will help you understand how
the walls have changed before we continue to our
hotel. Dinner and overnight in Jerusalem.
FRI 13 AUG 10
Father will be the Celebrant for the Latin Mass with
the Franciscans at the Holy Sepulchre
then we'll return
to our hotel for breakfast.
ENJOY A FREE DAY IN JERUSALEM.
SAT 14 AUG 10
Time to depart for homes with
many memories
to Give Thanks and Remember
