Monday, May 17, 2010
 
          Gather at Dulles Airport for our Air France overnight flight to Italy, via Paris.  Dinner and a movie on board.

 

Tuesday, May 18, 2010
       
Arrive Turin and after Passport Control, transfer by our deluxe bus to the Basilica di Maria Ausiliatrice, built by St. John Bosco as the motherhouse of the Salesian Congregation.  Before Father celebrates Mass and you will have time in the complex that the Saint built to see a short film about his life, visit his rooms and chapel, and pray at his tomb.  Check into your hotel for dinner and overnight.

 

Wednesday, May 19, 2010   

        After breakfast, drive to Castelnuovo Don Bosco, formerly known as Becchi..  In the sanctuary of Colle Don Bosco, Father will celebrate Mass and you will have an opportunity to visit this peasant courtyard where the Saint was born.  After a lunch break, continue to Riva di Chieri, birthplace of St.Dominic Savio, youngest non-martyr canonized saint.  Visit the church where he was baptized and his childhood home in Murialdo before proceeding to Mondonio to pray at the home where he died of tuberculosis at 14.  Return to Turin for dinner and overnight.

 

Thursday, May 20, 2010 

            After breakfast, see The Holy Shroud in the Church of the Holy Shroud or the Cathedral of Saint John.  Visit the International Center of Sindonoly where research on the Shroud is conducted.  Renovated in 1998, its 15 projectors show spectacular virtual frescoes of the Passion of Christ, culminating in the astonishing three-dimensional image of the face of the Man of the Shroud.   Also in the Cathedral of Turin, see the body of Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati, found to be incorrupt on March 31, 1981.  He died in the city of his birth at 24 and was beatified in Rome on May 20, 1990.  After Father celebrates Mass, we depart for Florence (414 km : 4.5 hrs) Dinner and overnight in Florence.

 
Friday, May 21, 2010   
            After breakfast, a walking tour of Florence, the capital of Tuscany region.   Visit the Accademy of Art to see Michaelango’s famous “David” and other works of art, then continue to Santa Maria del Fiore (the Duomo) and the Baptistry with Ghiberti's Door of Paradise.  Continue thru the historical area to Palazzo Vecchio, the town hall of Florence overlooking the Piazza della Signoria with its gallery of statues in the adjacent Loggia dei Lanzi.  It is one of the most significant public places in Italy.  Complete this tour at the Basilica of Santa Croce, the principal Franciscan church in Florence.  Known as the Temple of the Italian Glories, it’s the burial site of some of the most illustrious Italians such as Michelangelo, Galileo, Machiavelli, Foscolo, Gentile, Rossini and Marconi.  
After Father celebrates Mass you will have time to visit the church or the famous leather school that is part of the complex.  Dinner and overnight in Florence.

Saturday, May 22, 2010   
                After breakfast, depart for Assisi.  You'll have a tour which  will start from church of Santa Chiara to see The Cross that spoke to St. Francis and pray his prayer before same Crucifix. We will learn more about St. Clare, the founder of Poor Clare’s, and see her incorrupt body.  Have a lunch break and some free time then continue walking along the streets of Assisi  to the  Basilica of St. Francis and chapel with the tomb of the Saint.   Some free time before returning to Santa Maria del Angeli basilica to  pray in the Porziuncle and celebrate Mass near where Saint Francis died.  Check into hotel for dinner and overnight. 

Sunday, May 23, 2010

                Depart for Rome after breakfast,  Upon our arrival, stop at St. Paul’s Outside the Walls where Father will celebrate Mass.  Continue to  St.John Lateran and St.Mary Major before checking into our hotel for dinner and overnight.    

Monday, May 24, 2010 
              Explore the city on a walking tour from Hadrian’s Tomb to the Colesseum, stopping in Piazza Navonne, the Pantheon,  and Trevi Fountain.  Father will celebrate Mass at  the Jesu in the Chapel of Robert Bellarmine.   Continue to the Piazza Venezia and the Forum.  Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.

                Mass in the crypt chapel of St. Peter’s Basilica and then time to visit our magnificent home church. ENJOY A FREE AFTERNOON.

Dinner and overnight in Rome.
