SPECIAL PILGRIMAGE to JORDAN AND ISRAEL – In September 2020, a decision will be made about this journey in light of the Covid-19 crisis.

SUN 8 NOV 20      Depart from Dulles, Washington DC on Lufthansa 419 evening flight.  Dinner and movie on board.

MON 9 NOV 20     Arrive Frankfurt, Germany in the morning and transfer to Lufthansa 692.  Arrive Amman,  JORDAN in the afternoon and after Passport Control, be greeted by our guide and driver.  Check into our hotel.  Dinner and overnight in Amman.

TUE 10 NOV 20     After  breakfast, depart for Madaba to see the oldest mosaic map of the mid-East and then go o to Mount Nebo, overlooking the Promised Land.  Continue South on the King’s Highway to check into our hotel at the entrance to PETRA.  Dinner and overnight in Petra.

WED 11 NOV 20    After  breakfast, walk to the entrance to Petra   and begin our full day of exploring this 4th Century B.C. hidden city of the Nabatean’s.  Walk  thru the Siq and be amazed by the Treasury and other monuments carved into the rose red rock.  Continue to the Roman ruins and 4th Century Byzantine Church.  Have some free time before returning north to Amman to our hotel for dinner and overnight.

THR 12 NOV 20   After   breakfast,  board our coach and head for Jerash, a 2,500 year old Roman/Greco city.  After a lunch stop, we continue north to cross into ISRAEL on the Sheik Husseim Bridge.  Check into our hotel in Nazareth.  After dinner you might want to walk to the Sweet Shop with Father Mullaney J

FRI 13 NOV 20   FRI 13 NOV 20    After breakfast, we cross the street to visit the Church of the Annunciation, Joseph’s Carpenter Shop and the museum built over the original village of Nazareth.   Walk through the market to visit the Greek Orthodox Church where we find Mary’s Well.    After included lunch, depart for the town of Cana to visit the Wedding Church and learn about the local customs then to Nazareth Village, an open-air museum that reconstructs and reenacts village life in the Galilee in the time of Jesus.  Dinner and overnight in hotel.

SAT 14 NOV 20   After   breakfast, we take a boat across the Sea of Galilee to Capernaum.  Tour the ancient city, 1st/3rd Century synagogue and the new Church built over the houser of Peter.  Continue up the Mount of Beatitudes to see the beautiful gardens and then stop for the included lunch before visiting Tabgha and The Primacy. End the day at the new exploration of Magdala with its First century synagogue and new church overlooking the Sea.  Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.

SUN 15 NOV 20       After breakfast, we drive North up on the Golan Heights to Tell Dan and Banyas.  In the Biblical city of Caesarea Philippi   we remember Jesus asking, “Who do people say I am?” and Peter’s response, “You are the Christ.”    

A pleasant stop for a typical lunch before we continue to look over no-man’s land into Syria at the United Nations controlled area and before we go to Mount Tabor, site of the Transfiguration.   Return to Nazareth for dinner and overnight.

MON 16 NOV 20.    After breakfast, we drive West to Caesarea Maritime and tour the ancient Roman city on the Mediterranean Sea.  We continue to Bethlehem to enjoy our included lunch before visiting the oldest church in the world, The Nativity Church.  Have time to visit one of the famous olive wood shops before going up to Jerusalem  and check into our hotel for dinner and overnight.

TUE 17 NOV 20     After breakfast, we stop at the top of the Mount of Olives and walk down to the Carmelite Convent of Pater Noster, the Franciscan property of Domus Flevit and come to Gethesamane.    After lunch we visit the the Israeli Museum to see the Dead Sea Scrolls and a 1/50th scale model of the city at 70 AD, and then take time to reflect at Yad Vashem, the Holocaust Memorial.  Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.

WED 18 NOV 20   Mass in the Tomb of Our Lord at the Holy Sepulchre and then return to the hotel for breakfast.   Depart for the Jordan River where you can renew your Baptismal Promises, the into Jericho to see the Sycamore Tree and the Mount of Temptations.  You might be tempted to ride a camel!  Continue to Qumran where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found in 1947.  After your tour, enjoy lunch before we stop at the Dead Sea.  You can ‘float’ if you want to in the mineral laden salt sea.

Return to Jerusalem for dinner and overnight.

THR 19 NOV 20     After a full Israeli buffet breakfast, we enter the Old City and visit the Western Wall.  See young Jewish boys celebrate their Bar Mitzvah here and have time to pray at The Wall before we go up on to the Temple Mount to see the golden Dome of the Rock and learn the history of this special place revered by Jews, Muslims and Christians.  Stop at the Crusader Church of St Anne’s (with perfect acoustics).

In the afternoon, walk the Via Delorosa up through the Market to the Holy Sepulchre and join the Franciscans in their daily Procession thru the church.    Dinner and overnight in hotel.

FRI 20 NOV 20           After Breakfast, visit  St. Peter in Gallicantu and then go up on Mt. Zion, to visit David’s Tomb, the Upper Room and Dormition Abbey.

            FREE AFTERNOON.                                         Farewell dinner in Bethlehem Tent!

SAT 21 NOV 20.   Time to depart for home with many memories to Give Thanks and Remember.
